Rules & Conditions 2019
General provisions
1.) Filmmakers can submit their short films for the ISFAs as long as these are clearly inspired by
either Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror and/or Comics. Filmmakers can also be contacted by
Stichting Imagicon to send their short film to the ISFAs.
2.) All officially accepted submissions for the ISFAs will be shown on Imagicon 2019.
3.) Entries are judged on direction, script, camerawork, sound (including soundtrack) and acting
by an expert jury.
4.) The winner of the ISFAs will be announced during the closing ceremony of Imagicon 2019.
5.) In addition to a physical award the winner of the ISFAs will receive a contribution* of €250,--
from Stichting Imagicon for the next short film that she/he is going to make.
6.) The creator of each submission for the ISFAs is entitled to two free tickets for Imagicon (on
request).
7.) After Imagicon 2019 we will erase all entries from our storage media.
8.) Deadline: 1 November 2018 (midnight).
* Information on the receipt of the contribution of €250,--
a.) The winner receives this contribution for a new short film that is inspired by Science Fiction,
Fantasy, Horror and/or Comics.
b.) The contribution is credited to the winner's account at the moment that it’s clear that the
short film will be made. Think of the actual start of a crowdfunding campaign or activity on a
website/social media which clearly shows more than a mere intention.
c.) The Imagicon Foundation must be mentioned as one of the financers in the credits ofthe
short film.
d.) The short film will be shown on the next Imagicon that takes place. The creators(s) of the
short film is free to submit it to the ISFAs, unless the director himself is in charge of the ISFAs
that year or will be a member of the jury.
Conditions for participation
1.) Entries for the ISFAs must have been made by a (predominantly) Dutch and/or Flemish crew
and cast.
2.) The submitted short film may be up to forty (40) minutes long, including credits.
3.) The following file formats are allowed:
AVI, BDMV light, MKV, TS, TP, TRP, M2TS, MPG, MP4, MOV, M4V, VOB, ISO, IFO, DAT, WMV, ASF,
RM, RMVB and FLV.
4.) The following video codecs are allowed:
MPEG 1-2, MPEG-4, ASP, AVC (H.264), XviD, WMV9 (VC-1), RealVideo 8/9/10.
5.) Each submission must have a short description of the short film (one-liner) and matching
artwork to be used on our website, Facebook page and in our program booklet.
6.) If the short film is recorded in a language other than Dutch, it must be provided with Dutch
subtitles.
7.) The director of the winning short film will be invited to be part of the jury of the next ISFA's.
8.) If an entry does not meet one or more of the conditions for participation it will be excluded
from the contest.
Participation
1.) Send your short film to info@imagicon.nl no later than November 1, 2018 (midnight) with
‘ISFA 2019 submission’ in the subject line, along with a download link. Please use one of the
following:
* WeTransfer / WeSendit
* From a cloud drive (Google drive, Onedrive, Dropbox)
* Via an FTP server
2.) Include your contact details (full name, phone number) to the email and don’t forget to add a
short description and artwork of your short film.
3.) Please note: Entries arriving in our inbox after midnight on 1 November 2018 are excluded
from the contest.
